1)  New Tractor Pull DataMite Logger Features  We've got several Tractor Pullers using the USB DataMites for recording their runs.  We've added a new "run type" to the Road Race/Circle Track DataMite software to use GPS for doing straight line runs.  (We can not offer this in our Drag Racing DataMite logger because NHRA does not allow GPS sensors.)

With the ability to precisely measure distance and vehicle speed with GPS, we can calculate tire spin and distance traveled, greatly improving data analysis for tractor pulling.  The graph below shows all 3 of these features: vehicle MPH, tire slip, and the data is graphed vs distance traveled in feet.

2) New Dyno Controller Features and Movies   

We're doing more development on our dyno controllers and have added some new features:

• Software now allows you to do accelerating or decelerating tests.  Previously, only accelerating tests were possible.
• Software now allows for an "Auxiliary Controller", which could be used for manually controlling the throttle via an electric actuator.
• New firmware updates to the controller let you have the display working while running a test.  Previously we recommended you only turn the display on for troubleshooting.  We've refined the display firmware to be much faster.  Unfortunately, you would have to return the controller to us to have it reflashed with this new feature.
• New firmware updates to the controller let you set a maximum and minimum travel in the valve actuator for water brake dynos.  This helps prevent over-taxing the actuator if it encounters a mechanical stop, or putting too much or too little load on the motor for extreme conditions.
• For Eddy Current dynos, we now have 2 modes of operation:  
  • "Auto" mode with RPM feedback, where the controller holds a particular RPM, or ramps the RPM up or down.  
  • 'Man" manual mode where you will add or remove load based on the manual knob position.
• We've made some movies of the dyno controller in action.

3)  Facebook Drawing for Ron Sutton's Suspension Tuning Workshops One of Performance Trend's customers, Ron Sutton, is putting on several workshops on Suspension Tuning, geared primarily to autocrossing.  Topics will include Suspension and Steering Geometry, Shock Valving, Balanced Handling, Aerodynamics, and more.
